Jessica Kahal Received United States Marine Corps – Semper Fidelis Bandsman Award In 2003

Jessica Kahal is a professional swimmer and an outstanding band musician, as well. Owing to her great dedication in both the fields, she has collected many accolades under her belt. She was awarded by the National Honor Society as well as the Spanish National Honor Society. Other honors and awards include Most Improved- Frosh/Soph Water Polo (1999), MYP – Frosh/Soph Swimming (2000), Most Improved – Advanced Orchestra (2001), and United States Marine Corps – Semper Fidelis Bandsman Award (2003). In 2002, she served Jack Kramer Club based in Rolling Hills Estates as a pool lifeguard, and Regal Cinemas The Avenue 13 as concessions/box office employee in Rolling Hills Estate for 2 years.

Jessica is an experienced swimmer and has won many swimming championships. She has great endurance, strength, insulation against heat loss when in the water below body temperature, therefore, low resistance when in the water, better energy conservations, and knows excellent swimming stroke mechanics. Jessica Kahal says that the best swimmers are generally tall, thin, and have long arms, legs, hands, and long feet, as well. The long size of hands gives them incredible water grasp and a very small hand movement helps them swim easily. This is the reason, why some individuals are better swimmers as compared to others.

She completed her studies from Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, and when she was a student there, she was a member of a Club Swim Team called “San Pedro Peninsula YMCA Swim Team”, and received world class training from Dan Halladay coach. Ms. Juliano, the coach of Girl's Frosh/Soph and Varsity Swimming also instructed Jessica Kahal, and taught her easy, effective techniques of swimming. For 2 years (1999-2001), she took part in many swimming competitions as a member of Girl's Frosh/Soph and Varsity Water Polo. She participated in 4x50 Medley Relay and 4x50 Freestyle Relay in the CIF State Swimming and Diving Championships that were organized in Long Beach in 2002.
