Jessica Kahal is a very talented musician who has won many awards and honors. It was in the year 1999 when she enrolled in Palos Verdes Peninsula High School to pursue her higher education and she fell in love with music. She has sung many songs and was also a member of many renowned musical bands and orchestras. From 1999 to 2003, she learned numerous different things from Mr. Fesmire, the director of Marching Band/Concert Band. He not only helped her refine her skills, but has also assisted her become skilled at different musical instruments. Under the supervision of Mr. Marino, the director, she worked hard for Intermediate and Advanced Orchestra group.
Jessica Kahal is always ready to work hard and keeps on educating herself on various different aspects of professional music making. During her higher education, she used to practice 15-16 hours in a day before any performance. She has a persistent and patient attitude, and would make steps to improve herself everyday, so as to become the best in this field. She says that it hardly matters which aspect of the arts or music people are passionate about, it is very important to practice their craft in a regular routine. After Mr. Marino, she sang many songs when she was a member of Choir and Jazz Choir under Mrs. Maddaford. For 3 years, i.e. from 2000 to 2003, she was a member of National Audubon Society.
She went to many competitions and gave many unforgettable performances. Jessica Kahal participated in the Peninsula High School drumline and sang in the Peninsula High School chorus at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. She was awarded by the National Honor Society and received the Most Improved award while working with Advanced Orchestra in the year 2001. In addition to participating in a variety of musical activities and events, she also conducted Intermediate Orchestra at Winter Concert 2002- “Theme from Forest Gump”, and Advanced Orchestra in Spring Concert 2003.
